Professional Development Courses: As effective as face-to-face courses

ID-10089077Lexercise has enjoyed wonderful participation in our online professional education courses, particularly this summer, with the most participation we’ve had yet! Online courses are as effective as face-to-face courses, and are undoubtedly more convenient (and less expensive)!

Dr. Suzanne Carreker, Certified Academic Language Therapist and Neuhaus Master Instructor, and her colleagues conducted a study that supports that online courses are as effective as face-to-face courses. They studied the knowledge gains of 126 teachers in two workshop delivery modes (onsite and online) for professional development in spelling instruction. The results suggested that teachers learned equally well in both modes.  In addition, it suggested that teachers can increase their knowledge of spelling through online professional development, which is flexible, convenient, and does not require teachers to give up valuable instructional time.
